Project

Survey: Jewellery Making, Manufacturing and Marketing in Atlantic Canada

The conducted survey (October 1st - October 30th, 2024) is a research project initiated by Greg Sims (Assistant Professor, NSCAD University), and assisted by Research Intern Cynthia Fraschetti (emerging artist/researcher and recent NSCAD graduate).

The study is aimed at gaining insights into the range of practices, common challenges, and innovative approaches within our regional jewellery industry. We strive towards creating opportunities and resources within Atlantic Canada’s jewellery sector.

Through this survey, we hope to collect and share info about current jewellery production & promotion trends in the Atlantic region, while identifying support systems that enhance innovation in production processes, allowing easier access and market growth for local businesses.

Our goal is to foster an ongoing dialogue about jewellery education, training, and resources, while nurturing relationships among faculty, students, and emerging professionals within the established local jewellery industries in Atlantic Canada.

Support for this project is provided by the Craft Alliance Atlantic Association and Mitacs: Business Strategy Internships.
